2025 Gatewood PTA Green Envelope Campaign

The Gatewood PTA is a non-profit that works in partnership with school administration and educators to best support all our kids. Highlights of the Gatewood PTA’s efforts include advocating for students and staff AND planning monthly activities and special events to build and celebrate our amazing community.  

To maintain the PTA’s current level of support of students and staff, we need to raise $140,000, which is an average of $329 per student for the 425 students at Gatewood.  The Gatewood PTA uses a two-prong approach to meet this fundraising goal - our Annual Auction event (planned for March 27th!) and our Green Envelope Giving Campaign that kicks off October 21st. 

On October 21, our PTA will kick off its annual Green Envelope Giving Campaign.

This year’s campaign will run October 21 to November 12.  Key dates:

• Tuesday October 21st: Kickoff ‘DJs and doughnuts’ celebration; kids come home with green envelopes in their backpacks. The green envelope contains: 1) a letter to parents explaining what your donations fund; and 2) a hardcopy donation form where you indicate if you are choosing to donate and how much you are donating.

• Wednesday November 12th: Return Green Envelopes. Please complete the hardcopy donation form and return it in the green envelope to your child’s homeroom teacher OR you can digitally “return” your green envelope by submitting an online donation form. Our goal is for every family to return their green envelopes (hardcopy or online donation form) regardless of the level of giving. 100% participation is the goal! Return the form (hardcopy or online) to receive a custom Gator button and be entered into a raffle for cool prizes!

How do I donate via the Green Envelope Campaign?

• Cash/Check: Return the hardcopy donation form in the green envelope.  Checks payable to Gatewood Elementary PTA.

• PayPal: Click here to donate online via PayPal. (Please note PayPal charges a non-profit collection fee of 1.99% + $0.49 per transaction. You can choose to offset these charges when you donate. PayPal also gives you the option to set up recurring monthly donations if that’s preferred.)

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes! Gatewood Elementary PTA will provide you a letter documenting your contribution. Letters will be distributed approximately one month after the conclusion of the campaign. Our Tax ID is 91-1896591.

• Advocacy Initiatives to support public schools

• Supply grants for every classroom

• After School Clubs (administration, management, need-based support, and funding of aides for students with additional needs)

• Sponsoring Visiting Authors and Artists

• Passport Club

• Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

• Support of student field trips, including 5th grade camp

• Yard signs for graduating 5th graders

• Walk, Bike, or Roll to School Month

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do PTAs fundraise?

The funds raised by the PTA directly bridge critical deficits in state and district budgets. These gaps are further widened this year by the real threat of millions of dollars in federal funding being withheld from our state, and potential losses for school districts that champion diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Our PTA has already begun funding programs that were once covered by grants, which are now running dry. Your support ensures that, even with clouds of uncertainty on the horizon, we can keep our children’s days filled with sunshine – and help every child, no matter their background or circumstance, thrive.

What should I consider in determining my level of support? 

Yes, it’s true that the Gatewood PTA spends an average of $329 per student per school year. We recognize, appreciate and understand that different families have different finances and encourage you to donate the amount that is right for your family. We are hopeful that as a community we will reach our fundraising goal of $140,000, so that ALL Gatewood Elementary students can continue to benefit from the safe and nurturing environment our school offers them.

Do you accept employer matches? 

YES! Every year, employer matches play a big part in our green envelope campaign. Please reach out to your employer and request matching funds. Please indicate the name of your employer on your Green Envelope form (paper or digital) so that the PTA can anticipate the matching gift. How does the raffle work and what are the prizes?

For every envelope or online donation form turned in, students will be entered into a raffle where they will be randomly selected to win a variety of prizes. Ask family members, neighbors and friends to participate because the more envelopes (and forms) students turn in, the greater their chances are at winning!
