Gatewood Care Closet
Gatewood’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee has created a confidential, welcoming space stocked with essential items like children's clothing, hygiene products,
and household basics. From socks to groceries, we’re here to help!
The Care Closet is available to any Gatewood student or family who could use a little extra
support. It isn’t just for times of serious need. It’s here for everyday situations too - like a
forgotten jacket on a cold day, an unexpected spill, or an embarrassing moment that calls
for a quick change or hygiene help.
Our goal is simple: to provide comfort, dignity, and a sense of normalcy
so that no child feels singled out or unprepared.
Simply reach out to any teacher, member of the administrative staff, or
email our Care Closet Coordinator at GatewoodCareCloset@gmail.com

What does "like-new" mean?
All like-new donations should be clean, washed ,and ready to wear. Items should be free from rips, stains, tears, pet hair, etc. These are items that still have a good amount of life left, perhaps your child has just simply outgrown.

My child borrowed clothing from the Care Closet, what should I do with these items?
Please kindly wash and return them, so that they are available for another child to use. The Care Closet drop box is located in the Staff Lounge (just down the hallway from the school office - turn right at the big glass cabinet, it's the door at the end of the hallway). We also have a separate labeled bin for any items that "need to be washed", if you're unable to clean before returning.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
In-kind donations are not tax-deductible, but cash contributions are! Gatewood Elementary PTA can provide you a letter documenting your contribution upon request. Our Tax ID is 91-1896591. DONATE HERE

Do you accept employer matches?
YES! Every year, employer matches play a big part in our fundraising. Please reach out to your employer and request matching funds. Please indicate the name of your employer on your donation so that the PTA can anticipate the matching gift. If you need more information, please email us at treasurer.gatewoodpta@gmail.com
